Not Washing Hands Properly

Teach your children the correct way to wash their hand. This will prevent germs from spreading and help reduce illness in adults and kids. Be sure to have your kids wash their hands at least 20 seconds and scrub all parts of their hands. This includes between the fingers and under their nails.

Handwashing is particularly important after you use the toilet and before you eat. Hands should be washed throughout the day, especially since children are prone to touching their faces or mouths.

Not Brushing Teeth Regularly

Helping kids develop the habit of brushing at least twice daily is important. This daily habit also includes flossing and mouthwash.

It helps prevent dental cavities and other problems. Tooth decay can also cause discomfort and pain, and may lead to other medical conditions.

Choking, Poisoning and Suffocation Risks

Children have a natural urge to put objects in their mouths. This can result in them ingesting objects or substances that can lead to choking and poisoning. Keep potentially hazardous items, such as cleaning products, medicines, and liquids, out of the reach of children. Also, make sure that you don’t leave small objects like marbles and coins lying around for a child to find.

Not Learning How To Swim

If your child is unable to swim, it could save their lives in an accident. Swimming lessons may not be on a parent’s priority list, but drowning is the number one cause of death for children ages 1-4. Enroll your child as soon as possible in swimming lessons and always supervise them when they’re near or in water.

Do not wear a helmet

Helmets are essential for children who enjoy biking, skating, rollerblading and other adventure sports. Children are prone to falls and injuries that can result in serious or fatal head injuries. Always make sure your child wears a helmet that fits properly when they are biking, skating or doing any other activity where they might fall.

Not Careful Around Heat & Fire

Children are not always aware of the dangers that heat and fire pose. Keep matches, lighters and candles away from children and supervise them whenever they are around a heat source. Also, tell them not to play with matches or fire without an adult’s presence.

Here are a few potential dangers that parents should be aware of. It is important to teach your children the importance of safety and health. This will help them develop valuable life skills and increase their chances of remaining healthy and safe.
